This guy named Oedipus is the son of Kind Lauis and Queen Jocasta. A oracle comes up and says that he will kill his father and marry his mother. They don't want this to happen so they try to kill him. They leave him in a forest and this sheaprd walks past and sees him so he takes him in. Now the oracle will come true. But Oedipus is blind to the truth because he doesn't know about the oracle because he was supposed to die.

Oedipus was a young adult when he first hears the oracle. He leaves his town because he doesn't want it to come true. On the way to Thebes he runs into the caravan and the people try to tell him to move and stuff but he doesn't want to so they try to kill him but he kills all of them besides one man. Well when he gets to Thebes he solves this riddle set on the town by the sphinx. Once he solves this everyone in the town wants him to be the new king. He should of thought about how he had just killed a man.

Later in the story Oedipus goes to this blind prophets house to get a prediction. Well the prophet tells him that his oracle had come true that he had killed his father and married his mother. He will not listen to this so he starts telling him that he is wrong and all this other stuff. Well the prophet doesnt like this and is like you mock my blindness but you with 2 good eyes is the one that is blind.

Finally later in the story Jocasta is no longer blind to the truth and kills herself. Oedipus has still not figured it out even after Jocasta hangs herself. Oedipus really has no common sense.

In conclusion to this story Oedipus finally figures it out. He is so ashamed that he stabs his eyes out and banishes himself to the mountains where no one will ever have to see him again.
